Violent Incident Reports

If you experience violence in the workplace, it is very important that you fill out the proper paperwork. Your school may have an in school form they wish you to fill out, but you also need to report it through this online form. The online Violent Incident form can be found through the division portal labeled MANTE Violent Incident. I have attached instructions on where to find this form. These instructions can also be found under the Blog Roll. If there is an injury, you must also fill out a WCB form, which is located on the same page that you find the Violent Incident Report, it is labeled EBBB-E-2 Notice of Accident Form – Fillable. If you have any questions or are unsure if you should fill out the form, please contact me and I can answer those questions for you. http://mante.ca/wp/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Violent-Incident-Form-Instructions.pdf

Clarification

Just a quick clarification in the February Newsletter. When reminding everyone of the discount at the fitness centers, I forgot two key words. The discount is at any City of Winnipeg fitness center and not just any Winnipeg fitness center. My apologies for any confusion this may have caused.

Happy Holidays

On behalf of all the MANTE executive, I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful winter break. May the joy of the season fill your heart with love. Enjoy this time, create and cherish the new memories and welcome in a new year full of endless possibilities.

2023 has not been an easy year. This Christmas may look and feel different and we might find ourselves struggling to find the joy of the season. A reminder during these times that you are not alone. Although the MANTE office will be closed over the break, if you need anything, if you need someone to talk to, please reach out. I will be available through email, jennifer.monaster@sjasd.ca and will be back in the office on January 8th.

Happy Holidays to all. May you be safe in your celebrations and see you all in 2024!!!!

Remembrance Day

I have had a few questions regarding Remembrance Day. This year Remembrance Day falls on a Saturday. Our Collective Agreement does address this scenario in section 10.02 Remembrance Day shall be a paid holiday except where it falls on a Saturday or Sunday. We do not get a day off in lieu of Remembrance Day.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

September 30th, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a federally declared statutory holiday to recognize the tragic loss and the lasting effects of Canada’s history and the residential school system. Our collective agreement recognizes all federally declared holidays. At this time, the Provincial government has not declared it a holiday and therefore the schools were not closed in lieu of this day. The Association and the Division have written a Letter of Understanding for the 2023/2024 school year. We have agreed that all 10-month MANTE members will take a day off in lieu on any designated in-service day. What that means is  you need to pick one of the in-service days you had planned on working and now take that day off with pay. For 10 month employees who work all in-service days, you will now select one of those days and take it off with pay.  For the 12 month employees, please select any work day during the winter or spring breaks, in consultation with your administrator/supervisor. This day in lieu cannot be carried over to the next school year. Please pick your day and enter it into Atrieve using the code S30. Employees will be paid for this day as if it were a regular workday.
